The Women and Children’s Library
Kerala State Council for Child Welfare has set up a library in 1971 to spread the power of knowledge through words. The library for women and children is functioning in the Head Quarters of the Council and it is affiliated to the Kerala State Library Council. It is certified with A grade by the State Library Council. The library is constituted with nearly 13,000 books and periodicals for women and children. Two leading English newspapers and all the Malayalam dailies are also available in the library. On an average of 100 children and women use the services of the library per day. Library membership has risen to around 1600 since its affiliation to the Kerala State Library Council in the year 2000.
The library contains books on different subjects pertaining to child development, health & nutrition, history, science etc. The library also receives number of periodicals and news letters from foreign countries like China and Germany.
Membership fee is Rs.40 for children and Rs.85 for women. Also lifetime membership at Rs.250 is offered.
